| Pushing the limits: Sennheiser unveils evolution wireless G2 |
Audio and RF specialist Sennheiser caused a sensation at the recent NAMM Show in Anaheim, California. On the first day of the show, Sennheiser revealed one of the industry's most closely guarded product secrets - by unveiling the second generation of its highly successful evolution wireless series.
Pushing the limits: with its evolution wireless G2 series, Sennheiser has once again extended the boundaries of feasibility. The second generation of the successful radio microphone series now offers even more product features and a further enhanced design concept - while still maintaining the excellent price level of its predecessor. Systems for every conceivable application and a broad range of accessories leave nothing to be desired. Whether for vocals, instruments, presentations, camerawork or wireless monitoring - the five evolution wireless G2 lines offer a top-class system for every purpose.
 evolution wireless G2 500 Series
New Features Thanks to a broader switching bandwidth (36 MHz), evolution wireless G2 now makes 1,440 channels available to the user. That means even more flexibility and even greater transmission reliability. The most striking changes have been made to the bodypack transmitters and mobile receivers, which have been reduced in size by about 30 % - an absolute revolution in this price segment. New, additional features include the scan function that automatically searches for free channels, as well as the new, intuitive user menu and large backlit displays. A pilot tone squelch ensures that the transmitter microphone can be switched on and off without noise, The (adjustable) squelch can be deactivated in order to guarantee compatibility with the first evolution wireless generation.
A new reset function is particularly interesting for rental companies. At the touch of a button, the system can be reset to its initial settings - ready for its next job. evolution wireless G2 also has a new battery concept. The bodypack transmitters and mobile receivers are powered by two AA-size cells to ensure a longer operating time and stable RF performance. In addition, a powerful rechargeable battery pack, the BA 2015, is now available for the hand-held transmitter, the bodypack transmitter, the plug-on transmitter and the mobile receiver. The matching charger recharges the batteries either directly or - for the 300 Series and above - while they are still inside the bodypack transmitter/receiver.
More Performance, More Design: the Rack Receiver The heart of the evolution wireless G2 series in the field of music and presentation is the True Diversity rack receiver, which, in addition to its technical qualities, also features a fresh and attractive design. The audio outputs are designed as unbalanced 1/4' jack sockets and balanced XLR sockets. The receiver has eight fixed frequency banks which, depending on the system, provide up to twenty suggestions for free frequencies, as well as a freely programmable user bank. Depending on the series selected, the receiver automatically scans one or all banks for free frequencies. Two-color backlighting for the display (300 series and above) immediately shows the transmission status. A green light means that everything is in order and that the audio signal is available at the receiver output, while a red light indicates that there is a fault or that the transmission has been interrupted. The receivers of the 500 series also have four equalizer presets, as well as a soundcheck mode and a separately adjustable headphone output.
Five evolution wireless Series evolution wireless G2 includes five series: the most affordable series is the evolution wireless ew 100 G2, which, with its eleven sets, covers all areas of wireless audio transmission, from vocals and instruments to presentations and camera sound. Supplied complete with rack adapters, the seven sets in the ew 300 G2 series offer enhanced RF and AF properties for vocals, presentations and instruments. For the ew 500 G2 series, the user can choose from individual components that are supplied complete with accessories. The ew 550 G2 series at the top end of the evolution wireless range includes the EM 550 twin receiver, which can be combined with any transmitters from the 500 series. The ew 300 IEM G2 offers the artist a powerful wireless monitoring system with an ultra-compact receiver. The system is supplied complete with rack adapter and earphones. Additional receivers with earphones are available separately.

All systems have once again been developed in Germany, and are made both in Germany and the USA. Their robust design comes as standard, making them ideally suited for the toughest of tours. The needs and wishes of users have been consistently implemented. Generation 2 sets new standards for the market - a convincing package in both price and performance.
