Sennheiser Presents its Most Successful Wireless Series
At prolight + sound, electro-acoustic specialist Sennheiser will showcase the newest products from its successful 5000 and evolution wireless series. In Hall 4.1, booth E 12, show attendees will find the world’s smallest professional bodypack transmitter, the SK 5012; the evolution wireless EM 550 twin receiver; and the limited evolution wireless Blue Edition. Also featured among the crop of wired microphones is the e 664 condenser microphone, another instrument mike from the successful evolution series. Along with a well-rounded music industry portfolio, visitors to the booth will enjoy a special musical program.

Sennheiser’s show offerings are centered around the successful evolution and evolution wireless microphone series, which have been expanded with a number of attractive new units. The EM 550 twin receiver has been custom-tailored to meet the requirements of PA rental companies and professional tour musicians; it features an integrated active antenna splitter and switched-mode power supply. The e 664 wired microphone is the ideal product for overhead miking and high-resolution pick-up of acoustic instruments. Blue is beautiful: blue LEDs and displays make this limited special series in the evolution wireless line coveted ”collectors’ items”.

Sennheiser’s 5000 series stands for high-quality wireless sound transmission solutions. With its SK 5012, Sennheiser presents the world’s smallest professional bodypack transmitter.

At the booth, Sennheiser products can of course also be seen in action: the a cappella group The Magnets will delight attendees with a daily program and breathtaking choreography. And on March 17, German pop sensation and Sennheiser endorsees Bro’Sis will be paying a visit. Stop by and join the fun in Hall 4.1, Stand E 12!

EM 550 – The Stage Professional
Sennheiser’s most successful RF wireless series ever has been expanded by a professional line: the evolution wireless 550 series. At the heart of this system is the new EM 550 twin receiver, which has been designed for professional sound equipment providers.

In the short time since their introduction, evolution wireless 500 series transmitters have become firm favorites with PA companies and professional musicians on tour, offering excellent audio quality and ruggedness. The only thing that was missing for ”perfect bliss” was a receiver for professional tours where many RF wireless channels were used simultaneously. Now the EM 550 twin receiver is all set to make this dream come true.

The EM 550’s tough 19” metal housing conceals two true diversity receivers, eliminating the need to fiddle about with single receivers and rack adapters. A switched-mode power supply and an active antenna splitter have been integrated as well, allowing several receivers to be cascaded without the need for additional equipment. The receiver boasts a wide range of features for the true professional, including transformer-balanced audio outputs, HDX noise reduction system, LED display, separate headphone outputs and a Soundcheck Mode for checking the RF and AF levels.

The EM 550 is available as a combo with two transmitters from the evolution wireless 500 series.

New evolution Instrument Microphone
With the e 664, Sennheiser has rounded off its evolution series of wired stage microphones: finally there is an evolution model for overhead miking of drumkits and the high-resolution pick-up of acoustic instruments.

The e 664 is Sennheiser’s answer to the ever-increasing number of customer requests for an overhead microphone that combines superlative sound with the excellent price/performance ratio of evolution microphones. After the e 865 vocal microphone, the evolution e 664 is the second condenser model in the series. Low inherent self-noise and excellent directivity over the entire frequency range (40–20,000 Hz ± 2.5 dB) make this cardioid mic an ideal choice for cymbals, hi-hats and acoustic guitars. Very good rejection of both feedback and incident rear noise allow for precise recordings with high output. A switchable low-cut filter effectively reduces handling, wind and pop noise. Its excellent acoustic properties also make the e 664 an ideal microphone for home recording.

Big Entrance for a Small Transmitter:
The SK 5012 Makes its Broadcast Debut in Salt Lake City

Bodypack transmitters for broadcast and live applications must be extremely compact but deliver a full-sized performance. With this ideal in mind, Sennheiser has developed the SK 5012, the world’s smallest professional bodypack transmitter, which just made its broadcast debut at the 2002 Winter Olympics.

Wherever reliable, stable RF transmission and unobtrusive sound pick-up are prime requirements, the SK 5012 is the bodypack transmitter of choice. In Salt Lake City, the tiny ”power pack” – together with other Sennheiser systems – ensured first class broadcasts from the Winter Olympics.

Systematic miniaturization has enabled the tiny transmitter to shrink in size to a mere 61 x 53 x 17 mm. In spite of these modest dimensions, the power pack still turns out 30 mW of RF output power, regardless of the charge of the two AAA batteries. The latest addition to Sennheiser’s 5000 Series, the bodypack transmitter uses HiDyn plus™ noise reduction and delivers an exceptionally pure audio signal. Sixteen tunable frequencies can be conveniently programmed via PC interfacing. The transmitter and its controls are optimally protected against moisture and accidental operation – which is particularly important for the SK 5012’s other main use: live shows and musicals.

Bro’Sis: Superb Career Debut with Reliable Sennheiser Equipment
Within just a few months, Hila, Indira, Faiz, Ross, Giovanni and Shaham have developed into a successful team – the band Bro’Sis – and are now delighting audiences with their talent, charm and charisma. The newcomers’ debut single ”I Believe” shot straight into the charts. And their second single ”Do You” also proves that the multi-cultural band, who have roots in Africa, India, America and Europe, can already be ranked among the professionals in the pop business. Backed by Sennheiser technology, Bro’Sis provides a perfect sound, which is given more than a good dose of street cred by Shaham’s flowing rap style. On March 17, the German shooting stars will visit the Sennheiser booth E 12 in Hall 4.1.

Sennheiser equipment has accompanied the success of the new band ever since their very first studio recordings. And during their live shows too, the performers benefit from microphones and in-ear monitoring systems from Sennheiser’s ”evolution wireless” series. As well as providing optimum sound quality, the head-worn microphones in particular guarantee maximum freedom of movement on stage – ensuring that the audience can enjoy an immaculately choreographed show. Sound and vision in perfect harmony!

”A good vocals microphone is extremely important – especially for this type of music,” explains songwriter Arkadius Raschka, who penned the second single ”Do You”. ”Each voice is different – and for such a sophisticated production with changing lead vocals, backing harmonies and rap parts, you have to be able to completel y rely on your equipment. It’s vital that all components fit together.” Which means that the headphones are also from Sennheiser – after all, perfect sound during the recording sessions gives the performers the security they need to produce the best results.

”We believe that Bro’Sis have great potential and are pleased to contribute to the long-term success of the band by providing them with our products,” says Rolf Meyer, President of Marketing and Sales at Sennheiser, commenting on the cooperation with the band.

Sasha: Touring Germany with Sennheiser RF Wireless
An Echo 2002 for ”Best National Music Video Clip”, his current album a hit with critics and fans, and playing to packed halls on his Germany tour – Sasha is riding on top of a wave of success. Rolf Meyer, Sennheiser’s President of Marketing and Sales, comments: ”We are very pleased to be working with such a talented, enthusiastic and versatile artist.”

At the center of Sasha’s power-packed concerts are the rock songs from his third album ”Surfin’ on a Backbeat”. Sennheiser microphones and in-ear monitoring systems ensure optimum sound quality. ”On the new tour, we’re really rocking the house – that’s where the wireless systems from Sennheiser play the largest role. Top sound quality, absolute transmission reliability, and freedom of movement – our expectations are more than fulfilled,” says Sasha, who shows his excitement about the tour.

In addition to Sasha’s ew 565 system, five more evolution wireless systems, ten 3000 series in-ear monitoring systems, various wired evolution microphones and several RF condenser microphones from the top-of-the-line MKH series accompany Sasha and his band.
