| MD 46 – Dynamic Cardioid Reporter’s Microphone |
The development of the MD 46 goes back to a request from the US TV giant, NBC. In 2000, NBC was not looking for the usual omni-directional reporter’s microphone, but for a cardioid version designed to meet the requirements of rough live work. Sennheiser hand built 150 units and supplied them to NBC for field-testing.
Meeting with a very positive response from NBC, other broadcasters also indicated their interest in a cardioid dynamic reporter’s microphone. Now the MD 46 is in full production. It is an ideal choice for outside broadcasts where a rugged microphone is a must:
|
| | Speech clarity was optimised by increasing the mic’s presence and decreasing the frequency response curve in the bass. Therefore, the MD 46 does not require a low-cut filter.
| | The MD 46 is extremely insensitive to handling noise.
| | A two-ply gauze sound inlet basket provides increased protection from wind and pop noise. |
