| Mobile Transmitter for guidePORT |
The innovative visitor guidance system guidePORT from audio specialist Sennheiser has now become even more flexible. A clever mobile transmitter makes it possible to offer individual guided tours — for up to 31 groups simultaneously! In addition to providing automatic visitor information in different languages and with various levels of detail, museums and exhibitions can now offer customised guided tours for different groups — all from a single system.
“The SK 3200 mobile transmitter can be perfectly integrated into existing installations,” explains product manager Norbert Hilbich. “It allows a guide to temporarily release visitors from a customised tour into an existing guidePORT installation, for example to watch a film or a multimedia presentation, and always in their own language. Guides can activate the recorded guidePORT commentary on the exhibits and then simply switch ‘their own’ visitors back to the transmitter to provide additional information as required.” The mobile transmitter and visitor receiver system can, of course, also be used purely as a visitor guidance system — or even as a flexible interpreting system that allows parallel translation into as many as 31 languages.
Optimum transmission comfort Guides can use the transmitter either with a clip-on microphone or ideally with a headset microphone. The system also allows signals from external sources, for example from an MP3 player, to be transmitted to the visitors. The optimum volume level is adjustable and is indicated on the transmitter. The transmission power is 10 mW with a range of 20 m, and can be reduced to 1 mW for operation in the USA (range: approx. 10 m). The digital audio signal is transmitted with redundancy to ensure that any transmission errors or ‘dead spots’ are largely inaudible to the visitors.
Visitor Profiler for fast and simple issuing of receivers The user-friendly guidePORT software now has a new highlight. The Visitor Profiler instantly programmes the visitors’ guidePORT receivers to the correct language and level of information required. The easy-to-use graphical interface allows even untrained staff to operate the system without difficulties. Visitor groups can be assigned a name so that latecomers can be quickly allocated to their guide. When the personal guided tour is over, the visitors can be released to explore the exhibition on their own using their receivers.
The SK 3200 mobile transmitter and the new guidePORT software are available immediately.
