| JJ Lin wows fans with Sennheiser |
Solo artiste JJ Lin wrapped up his year-long concert tour on Sunday, charming a crowd of 30,000 at the Hong Kou Stadium in a collaboration with Sennheiser that signalled a new chapter in live performances for Lin.
The singer-composer from Singapore began his Just JJ World Tour in June 2006, beginning in Shanghai and then moving on to Singapore, Genting, Wuhan, Tianjin and Taipei. His latest one-night performance was held in conjunction with Singapore Season, a series of promotional activities held in Beijing and Shanghai to raise awareness about the country.
In a near three-hour concert showcasing his mellow vocals and sleek dance moves, Lin belted out familiar favourites and also four new songs from his latest album using the SKM 5200 wireless microphone outfitted with a KK 105 S Neumann capsule. The 26-year-old has won numerous awards including “Most Popular Singer-Composer” in the 6th Global Chinese Music Awards and “Best Male Artiste” at the 4th China Golden Record Awards. His Shanghai performance marked the first time he has worked with Sennheiser to improve the sound quality of his concerts.
Lin, who also excels in composition and music arrangement, was thrilled with the benefits of the new partnership. “The Sennheiser microphones gave me much more confidence and control during the concert, making me feel great, and allowing me to express myself on stage in front of 30,000 fans!”
Daniel Kwan, front-of-house engineer for Lin’s concert, added: “The Sennheiser SKM 5200 is my microphone of choice for vocal performances. It captures every single detail and therefore reproduces JJ’s voice brilliantly.”
“I was also impressed with the sound quality of the HSP 4 headset microphone — the feedback rejection is fantastic and the short gooseneck provides a very flexible option of decreasing the proximity effect,” he continued. The industry veteran, one of the most sought after FOH engineers in this region, has worked with many established artistes such as Jacky Cheung, Emil Chau and David Tao during a career spanning more than 20 years.
