The client
The Munarra Centre for Regional Excellence (MCRE) in Shepparton, Victoria, is Australia’s first Indigenous-led, pathways-based education facility. Developed in partnership with the University of Melbourne, Munarra Limited, the Kaiela Institute, and Rumbalara Football Netball Club, the Centre aims to empower both Indigenous and non-Indigenous students through culturally responsive education and community engagement.
The challenge
MCRE required a state-of-the-art audiovisual system to support diverse learning environments, including large classrooms, meeting rooms, and communal spaces. The system needed to ensure clear audio capture and transmission for both in-person and remote participants, while being easy to manage and maintain. Additionally, the AV solution had to align with the University of Melbourne’s technology standards.
The solution
To meet these requirements, MCRE implemented Sennheiser’s
SpeechLine Digital Wireless (SL DW) microphone system, integrated by Diversified. As the University of Melbourne’s standard for wireless microphones,
SL DW was chosen for its reliability, ease of deployment, and superior sound quality. The system’s integration capabilities, including support for Dante and Power over Ethernet (PoE), allowed seamless incorporation into the Centre’s IT infrastructure. The Sennheiser
Control Cockpit software provided centralised monitoring and management of the audio system across the facility.
The result
Simon Lamendin, Project Manager for the AV integrator, Diversified, comments: “The deployment of Sennheiser’s
SpeechLine Digital Wireless system at Munarra has made for clear and consistent audio quality throughout the various learning and collaboration spaces. It’s user friendly and the fact we can manage and monitor it remotely is crucial, given its rural location.” The successful integration of this technology supports MCRE’s mission to provide culturally enriched education and community development opportunities in the Goulburn Valley region.
