The customer
Thailand’s Revenue Department has upgraded its meeting and communication spaces to support the needs of a modern government workplace. The wider project covers facilities for executive discussions, seminars, internal communication and visitor reception.
Vichai Trading (1983) Co., Ltd. was appointed to design and install integrated audiovisual and control systems, with solutions tailored to the purpose of each area. Within this project, Sennheiser
TeamConnect Ceiling 2 provides ceiling-based speech capture in a lounge-style setting.
The setting: conversation beyond the conference table
The featured space brings together sofas, armchairs and occasional tables, creating an environment distinct from a conventional boardroom. Seating is distributed throughout the room rather than arranged around a single conference table.
This layout calls for a different approach to microphone placement. Installing microphones overhead allows the seating and furniture to remain central to the room’s design, without requiring microphone hardware on the occasional tables.
The solution: audio integrated into the ceiling
Sennheiser TCC 2 brings speech capture into the room’s ceiling. Its placement keeps microphone equipment away from the seating area and preserves the open appearance of the space.
The installation illustrates a practical application of ceiling microphones beyond traditional meeting rooms. In a lounge-style environment, overhead pickup allows the audio installation to fit around the furniture arrangement, supporting a space designed for conversation.
Visually, the microphone sits within the ceiling alongside the room’s lighting and other building services. This discreet approach complements the interior while leaving the tables available for documents and other meeting essentials.
A different format, the same focus on communication
The Revenue Department installation demonstrates how professional microphone technology can be incorporated into spaces that do not follow a conventional conference room layout.
With TCC 2 positioned overhead, the room retains its lounge-style character while incorporating dedicated speech capture. It is a considered balance between communication technology, furniture layout and interior design.
