In a forward-thinking collaboration, Sennheiser Japan, GAORA INCORPORATED, and Eizo System Co., Ltd. introduced an innovative audio experience to spectators at a professional golf tournament hosted by the Japan Professional Golf Association (PGA). The challenge: how to provide real-time broadcast commentary at a quiet outdoor venue without disturbing the live atmosphere of the sport. 
 
To meet this need, the team deployed Sennheiser’s MobileConnect, a streaming solution that enables visitors to use their own smartphones to hear high-quality, live commentary and guest interviews in real time—anywhere within the venue. GAORA, a leading sports broadcaster, spearheaded the initiative in response to growing spectator demand. Eizo System contributed technical expertise by customizing the MobileConnect app to deliver an intuitive, user-friendly experience tailored to the needs of onsite audiences. 
 
The technical deployment involved establishing a Wi-Fi mesh network across the entire venue, carefully adjusting access point placement and signal range to ensure seamless coverage and simultaneous connections for large crowds—even in outdoor areas. With no need for large-scale AV infrastructure or long lead times, the solution was implemented efficiently and effectively. 
 
As a result, spectators were able to enjoy a completely new level of engagement—immersed in the game while staying connected to the action through clear, real-time audio. The trial run received highly positive feedback, opening the door to broader implementation at future sporting events. 
 
Looking ahead, MobileConnect is poised to transform the live experience not only in golf but across a wide range of environments—from indoor sports like volleyball and ice skating to museums, exhibitions, and academic settings requiring quiet, personalized audio delivery. It’s also a strong candidate for use in corporate meetings and lectures that demand real-time language interpretation.
