BULLSHIT TV
Succesful on YouTube? One of the best German examples is Bullshit TV
Angry looking bouncers with sunglasses, clumsy delivery guys, fault-finding pensioners or simply put; people we all know. With comedy sketches about day-to-day situations, the team of Bullshit TV hit their mark exactly and became one of the most popular German channels on YouTube. Since 2010, the brothers C-BAS (Sebastian Meichsner) and Phil (Philipp Meichsner) as well as Christos “Chris” Manazidis produce comedy content for the internet. To get the perfect sound for their production, the team replies on the equipment from German audio specialist Sennheiser. “Back in 2012, when we won our first prize money, we invested it directly into a better camera, some lights and a wireless system from Sennheiser,” C-BAS aka Sebastian Meichsner remembers. Philipp Meichsner adds: “Before we bought it, we knew about the system from other YouTube colleagues. We knew that a lot of professionals put their trust into German quality. It was clear for us that we couldn’t go wrong with Sennheiser products!”
“We always have enough range for our needs and a pack of new batteries provides enough power to last an encess factor. The viewers will instantly recognize if you live and love what you do.” “And the demand for quality content has gone through the roof in recent years,” adds his brother Sebastian. “The Youtube community became In summer 2020, the team expanded their equipment list with three ew 112P G4 sets. “The addition of the current G4 system has been seamless,” says Sebastian Meichsner. For setups with a hidden camera, they usually use the Sennheiser ME 2 lavalier microphone because it is easy to inconspicuously integrate tire day of shooting,” explains Philipp Meichsner. “We really never experienced any dropouts or other disruptions and the automated frequency setup is easy to use and saves us time."
"To start a channel on YouTube, it is extremly important to invest a lot of passion into all projects. This is a key sucquite sensible to bad audio and we’ve noticed people now quit watching immediately once they realize the audio quality is poor. The majority of people would rather accept poor video quality over poor audio quality.”
With their latest investment, Bullshit TV is now capable of providing quality audio, even for bigger projects with multiple actors. The team is using three ew 112P G4 sets that work in the E band where no registration is required in most EU-countries (free use between 823 and 832 MHz as well as 863 and 865 MHz). The G4 all-in-one wireless system provides great sound in broadcast quality. Sennheiser’s G4 portfolio works with analogue FM transmission (frequency modulation) and the tried-and-true HDX compander system. Part of the ew 112P G4 system is the wireless SK 100 G4 transmitter, the EK 100 G4 portable camera receiver and the omnidirectional ME 2 clipon lavalier microphone. The range reaches up to 100 meters (approximately 330 feet). And with two AA batteries or the optional rechargeable BA 2015 battery, the system can provide up to eight hours of constant transmission.
Aside from the wireless system, the Bullshit TV team also invested in three MK 4 studio microphones. Their large condenser diaphragm is vaporized with gold and provides a natural and warm sound for studio use, while streaming live or when podcasting. “Before, I used a microphone from a different manufacturer”, says Philipp Meichsner. “But with the Sennheiser MK 4, my voice became even warmer and appeared to be closer to our viewers ears. And the intelligibility improved a lot as well."

Hidden camera with Sennheiser ME 2
Already more than seven years old, the Sennheiser ew100 wireless system performs perfectly today, eventhough it has faced rough weather conditions and daily use in and out of the camera bag. Philipp Meichsner: “The system has certainly not been treated with care during our recordings and transportation to say the least.” In summer 2020, the team expanded their equipment list with three ew 112P G4 sets. “The addition of the current G4 system has been seamless,” says Sebastian Meichsner. For setups with a hidden camera, they usually use the Sennheiser ME 2 lavalier microphone because it is easy to inconspicuously integrate into most costumes. For example, it is easily concealed on a shoulder strap of a black backpack.“We always have enough range for our needs and a pack of new batteries provides enough power to last an encess factor.
