The solution
At Tokyo City University, Professor Miyake’s laboratory conducts advanced research into spacecraft charging phenomena and insulation technologies for electric vehicles and aircraft. With frequent hybrid meetings involving students and international collaborators, the lab faced persistent audio challenges. Softly spoken participants were hard to hear, and raising microphone sensitivity only increased background noise. Initially using built-in laptop mics and desktop microphones, the team sought a more effective solution. After experiencing Sennheiser’s TCC 2 in use at Virginia Tech and comparing alternatives, Professor Miyake chose to implement a combination of the TeamConnect Ceiling Medium (TCC M) and the TeamConnect Bar (TC Bar). This ceiling-mounted solution keeps workspaces clear, automatically tracks voices, and offers exceptional sound quality. Installation was completed efficiently using the TC Bar’s built-in DSP and PoE capabilities. Since then, meeting quality has drastically improved. Quiet voices are now picked up clearly, devices activate with a single switch, and external participants consistently praise the audio clarity. The system is already being positioned as a model for wider adoption across the university.
"The ceiling-mounted design, automatic speaker tracking, and superior sound quality made Sennheiser’s solution the clear choice over other brands."
